The New Jersey Jackals got going early and topped the Boulders, 5-3 at Yogi Berra Stadium on Friday night. Rockland scored in the fourth, sixth, and seventh inning, but were not able to complete the comeback against the Jackals.
Adam Ehrlich got the Boulders going in the fourth inning with a big triple and then Matt Oberste hit him home to put Rockland on the board. Ehrlich also had an RBI in the sixth. Cito Culver scored in the seventh on an error to bring the Boulders within one heading into the eighth, but Rockland could not score in the eighth or ninth. Reinaldo Lopez was given the loss.
Game two of the three game series will be on Saturday, June 8th. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. at Yogi Berra Stadium.
