The Boulders (23-30) fell 5-2 to the Ottawa Champions (25-28) in the middle game of their three-game set from RCGT Park on Tuesday night.

Starter Phillippe Aumont led the way for the Champions, tossing a complete game and allowing just two runs while setting a single-game Can-Am League record with 18 strikeouts.

Second baseman Ryne Birk drove in Senoo Katsuya for the first run of the night in the top of the first. Jake Zokan made his first start of the season for the Boulders and gave up two runs in four innings. The Champions inflicted most of their damage in the bottom of the fifth, striking for three runs on a throwing error by Katsuya and a two-run single by Ottawa's Brian Portelli.

Catcher Blake Grant-Parks' RBI double in the top of the ninth accounted for the other Boulders run.

The two teams will complete their three-game series with Wednesday night's rubber game at RCGT Park starting at 7 p.m.
