Shirley May Return this Week

Injury Update, August 17 - John Brontsema has been placed on the Inactive list and will be out for the remainder of the season as the result of a hand injury suffered in Friday night's game vs. Sussex County.

With the Boulders trailing, 3-1 with one out in the top of the ninth, Miners' DH Nate Coronado attempted to steal third, but slid awkwardly, tumbling into Brontsema with both players suffering injuries. Brontsema's injury was evaluated and determined to be season-ending.

Earlier in the game, Ryne Birk was forced to leave the game after straining a muscle while batting in the bottom of the first inning. He remains active and his status is listed as day-to-day.

Also, RHP Landon Holifield has been placed on the injured list with an upper body injury.

Pitcher Tommy Shirley, who has been out of action since working just three innings in a 3-1 loss at New Jersey on July 31, will be working a bullpen session on Tuesday and is expected to be activated this week.
