The Rockland Boulders (38-43) lost the rubber game of their three-game series 8-6 to the Sussex County Miners (51-30) on Sunday night at Palisades Credit Union Park.

The Miners jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second against Boulders starter Edgar De La Rosa. However, Rockland answered back with home runs from Matt Oberste and Blake Grant-Parks to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth. Collin Ferguson's RBI single later in the inning put the Boulders ahead 3-2.

In the bottom of the fifth, Rockland continued to do damage against Miners starter Andrew Gist. Richie Fecteau slammed his league-leading 14th home run of the season to put Rockland ahead 4-2. Two more runs came home later in the inning on a two-run double by Grant-Parks.

The Miners, though, would not be denied, scoring four runs in the top of the sixth to tie the game. Two runs in the top of the ninth off Boulders closer Robbie Gordon after an hour-long rain delay put the Miners ahead for good.

In the sixth inning, fans at Palisades Credit Union Park were treated to a historic moment, as Boulders reliever Nick Kennedy broke his own Can-Am League record by making his 54th appearance of the season.

Despite the loss, the Boulders are 4.5 games ahead of Ottawa for the fourth and final Can-Am League playoff spot. Rockland visits New Jersey for the start of a three-game set on  Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. from Yogi Berra Stadium.
