The Rockland Boulders fell to the Sussex County Miners by the score of 6-2 in Game 3 of their best-of-5 Can-Am League playoff series at Skylands Stadium in Augusta, NJ.
Rockland took an early 1-0 lead on an RBI single by Collin Ferguson, scoring Grant Heyman in the second inning. The Boulders then extended their lead to 2-0 on an Angelo Mora homerun in the third.
However, Sussex County would strike back in the fourth inning with two runs of their own, as a Jarred Mederos 2-RBI double would score both Breland Almadova and Mikey Reynolds, knotting the game at 2-2.
A sixth inning Audy Ciriaco single, scoring Almadova would then give the Miners a 3-2 lead and Sussex would add to their run total in the eighth, as first Almadova would cross the plate again, this time as the result of a wild pitch, followed by a Jarred Mederos 2-RBI single, which would score Ciriaco and Trey Hair, pushing score to 6-2.
The Boulders were unable to muster a late inning comeback and both Jose Jose and Ryan Newell closed things out in relief for Sussex County.
Miners starter Andrew Gist (1-0) picked up the victory, while Edgar De La Rosa (0-1) took the loss for Rockland.
Game 4 of the series will take place on Sunday at Sussex County, with first pitch scheduled for 2:05pm. If necessary, Game 5 will also take place on the road, Monday at 6:35pm.
