Rockland Franchise Rebrands as New York Boulders

Rockland County, NY (December 13, 2019) – Bottom 9 Baseball, LLC has announced it will rename its Rockland County, NY- based Frontier League professional baseball franchise as the “New York Boulders,” effective immediately.

During this off-season, the Boulders were part of the Can-Am League merger with the Frontier League, with the new 14-team circuit set to begin play for the 2020 season as the largest independent professional baseball league in the North America.

Formed as an expansion franchise in 2011 and now entering its 10th season of play, the Boulders will retain their proud association with Rockland County while rebranding to better reflect the diverse geography of their fan base and corporate market.

“Rockland County is and will always be our home,” noted team President Shawn Reilly, “and we will always have an emotional connection to Rockland, but the reality is a large percentage of our fan base lives outside Rockland and across the metro New York market. The New York Boulders is a better representation of that diverse fan base and also gives fans of other Frontier League cities a better sense of where we are located. With the excitement of the new and better league, I believe this new name will allow us to engage even more fans throughout the area and attract more people to Rockland County and our games.”

During their first nine seasons, the Rockland Boulders captured the Can-Am League championship in 2014, won the league’sregular-season title twice, and was named Organization of the Year on two occasions. Numerous player contracts have been purchased by Major League Baseball affiliates, and in 2016, Stephen Cardullo became the first Boulders alum to play in the Majors as he performed for the Colorado Rockies.

“Since our inception we’ve been committed to creativity, growth and innovation,” added Reilly. “This is just the latest step in that evolution. Palisades Credit Union Park is one of the most beautiful ballparks in the country, and we expect this rebrand to present added value to both our existing and prospective corporate partners while remaining true to our heritage, which is why the foundation of our logo remains unchanged.” The Boulders are planning season-long events to celebrate their 10thanniversary while honoring the team’s heritage by wearing Rockland jerseys on special occasions.

The New York Boulders open the 2020 season on Thursday, May 14, traveling to face the Sussex County Miners before hosting the Washington Wild Things to start a nine-game homestand at 7:00 pm on Friday, May 15th.
