In the third week of voting to fill out the New York Boulders’ All-Decade team, fans selected Adrian Martin as the franchise’s top closer, landing him a spot on the on the roster.

As part of the New York Boulders’ Bould Decade celebrating the franchise’s first 10 years of play, fans have been voting to fill one position on our All-Decade team each week for eight successive weeks.

Voting for the closer, which concluded on Thursday, April 30, was sponsored by Clarkstown Coin and Jewelry of Nanuet and offered fans the opportunity to select one nominee from a group of five hurlers that toed the rubber in Rockland County and excelled for the Boulders.

Over the 2011 and 2012 seasons, Martin was perhaps the top reliever in the Can-Am League. In 2011, he recorded 22 saves, then followed up with a 19 save campaign in 2012. Over the two-year span, Martin won 11 of 16 decisions and surrendered only two home runs in 85 appearances that covered 93 1/3 innings of work.

“I had a wonderful time in Rockland and this completes a nice package,” Martin said. “Rockland was all about winning – it was probably the first time in professional ball where I just had to worry about going out and competing.”

He continued, “I had a great time in Rockland. It was a very enjoyable two years.”

Other candidates for the closer spot on the All-Decade team, included Kevin Fuqua (2013), Chad Robinson (2014-2015), Luis Sanz (2014-2016) and Hector Nelo (2016).

Voting for the All-Decade team is continuing this week as fans have the opportunity to select a first baseman from a group of five nominees who excelled for the Boulders. The voting to select a closer is sponsored by Gilligan’s Clam Bar and Grill of Pomona.

Fans can cast their vote for their top pitcher through Thursday, May 7, by sliding to www.NYBoulders.com. The first baseman receiving the most votes will land a spot on the All-Decade team.
