The Frontier League and the New York Boulders announced today that a “historic agreement” has been reached between Major League Baseball and the Frontier League, designating the Frontier League as a “Partner League.”

As a “Partner League,” the Frontier League will meet on a regular basis with MLB representatives to discuss joint marketing and promotional opportunities, as well as collaborate on initiatives to provide organized baseball to communities throughout the United States and Canada.

“This historic agreement will allow all professional baseball teams to collaborate with MLB to help grow our great game across the country,” Boulders President Shawn Reilly said. “Independent baseball has been an important, but unsung part of the fabric of professional baseball since its inception nearly 30 years ago.”

He added, “I am excited to work with MLB so they can see what our fans and players have known for years…that independent baseball is a thriving industry with many excellent facilities, players  and an extraordinary connection with our communities."

The 2021 season will be the 10th season of play for the Boulders and the franchise’s first in the new-look expanded Frontier League.

"The Frontier League is honored to become a Partner League with Major League Baseball. This partnership will be beneficial in growing our great game of Baseball in all of our United States and Canadian markets. Our teams and fans will all be excited to see the League grow in years to come. The Frontier League began in 1993, to have a relationship with Major League Baseball, is one of the greatest moments in League history," Frontier League Commissioner Bill Lee said.

The American Association, as well as the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, were also tabbed as Partner Leagues.

“We welcome the American Association and Frontier Leagues as Partner Leagues and look forward to working with them toward our shared goal of expanding the geographic reach of baseball,” Morgan Sword, MLB’s Executive Vice-President of Baseball Economics and Operations, said.
