Juan Silverio drove in four runs, three with his eighth home run of the season, as the Tri-City Valley Cats posted their sixth straight win, this one a 5-3 victory over the New York Boulders on Tuesday night in Frontier League action at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy.

The Boulders’ loss snapped a three-game winning streak for New York and shrunk their lead in the Atlantic Division to one game over both the Valley Cats and Equipe Quebec, who were rained out in Sussex County this evening.

Tri-City trailed 3-0 through four innings of play before they inched within a run with a two-run bottom of the fifth frame, the runs coming via a double by Silverio and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Willy Garcia – both runs coming against New York starter Dan Wirchansky.

The Valley Cats grabbed the lead in the next inning. Carson Maxwell led off with a single, but Wirchansky retired the ensuing two batters before walking Nelson Molina, the free pass ending Wirchansky’s night as Alex Carrillo was summoned by Boulders’ manager T.J. Stanton.

Facing Silverio, Carrillo balked on his first pitch attempt to move the runners up to second and third. Silverio then lined Carrillo’s offering over the left field wall for a three-run home run, his eighth round-tripper of the season.

New York had jumped out to their 3-0 lead courtesy of Kevonte Mitchell, who doubled in Tucker Nathans, who had singled, in the first, and then hit his fourth home run of the season, a two-run shot, in the third that also plated Zach Kirtley, who has singled.

Wirchansky was tagged with the loss for New York, his record falling to 4-2 on the year.

Meanwhile, Troy Cruz, the fifth of seven Valley Cats’ pitchers on this night, picked up the victory, his second in as many decisions. Trey Cochran-Gill tossed a scoreless ninth inning for Tri-City to record his 10th save of the season.
