Dan Wirchansky pitched into the seventh inning to help the New York Boulders defeat Equipe Quebec 4-2 on Saturday night at Stade Canac in Quebec City.

The victory was the Boulders' 500th regular season win in the 10th year of play for the franchise, which began play in 2011 as the Rockland Boulders in the Can-Am League. The franchise rebranded itself as the New York Boulders prior to the start of the 2020 season, which would have been its first as a member of the Frontier League. However, the COVID pandemic forced the cancellation of that season.

The victory also snapped a six-game Boulders' losing streak.

Wirchansky allowed only two runs and seven hits as he improved to 3-4 on the year with the win.

Zach Schneider closed out the victory with 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief. It was his first save of the year.

Miguel Cienfuegos was tagged with the loss for Equipe Quebec, falling 5-5 on the season.

Debuting in 1993, the Frontier League is the largest and longest-running of the modern independent leagues and features teams stretching from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mississippi River and from the Ohio River to the St. Lawrence Seaway. In September of 2020, the Frontier League reached an agreement to become a “Partner League” with Major League Baseball.

As a “Partner League,” the Frontier League and its teams will meet on a regular basis with MLB representatives to discuss joint marketing and promotional opportunities, as well as collaborate on initiatives to provide organized baseball to communities throughout the United States and Canada.
