Ryan Ramiz hit the go-ahead homer to lead off the fifth inning and another impressive performance by the bullpen propelled the New York Boulders to a 5-4 victory over the New Jersey Jackals on Wednesday afternoon at Palisades Credit Union Park. The win marked the Boulders fourth in a row for the first time all season.

Nate Roe was on the hill for the Boulders making his fifth start. The Jackals managed to scatter ten hits off him and push across four runs in just three innings of work.

Down two going into the bottom of the second, the Boulders offense responded with a solo home run by Ray Hernandez, his league-leading 18th of the season. Three batters later, after a Phil Capra walk, Milton Smith Jr. launched his second career long ball, a two-run blast to put the Boulders up, 3-2.

The Jackals would get a run back in the top of the third on an RBI single by Jason Agresti and took the lead in the following thanks to a sacrifice fly by Santiago Chirino. Ryan Muñoz came in relief of Roe to steady the ship. He performed admirably, striking out two in three scoreless innings to earn the win.

Kevonte Mitchell extended his hitting streak to ten games with a double in the first inning, then drove in the tying run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly of his own. Ramiz broke the tie with his solo shot in the fifth, his fourth of the season, and the bullpen extended their streak to fourteen innings without allowing an earned run.

Dylan Smith came in for the seventh and eighth innings and pitched phenomenally, striking out the side twice. Zach Schneider set the Jackals down in order in the ninth to lock down his second save.

The Boulders will look for their third consecutive win over the Jackals tomorrow as they travel to Yogi Berra Stadium before returning for ten more games at home.
