Starting pitcher Danny Wirchansky is returning to the New York Boulders - for the time being. The Stony Point native recently had his contract purchased by the Arizona Diamondbacks, however the D-Backs organization deemed that he did not pass his physical exam as he has not sufficiently progressed from his Tommy John surgery in 2020,
The left-hander's arm has certainly not been an issue in his year-plus stint with New York, accounting for 120 strikeouts in 125 total innings of work including three starts this season with 20 Ks in just 14 innings and a 3.21 ERA, placing him among the top 20 starters in the 16-team Frontier League.
"We know it's a matter of time," said Team President Shawn Reilly. "He's been our best pitcher for over a year now and we're happy to have him back as he works his way to full strength and what we're confident will be another affiliated opportunity in the near future."
