CAPITALES USE BIG FIFTH INNING TO DOWN BOULDERS

Rockland County, NY (June 14, 2022) – The Quebec Capitales rode a four-run fifth inning to a 5-3 win over the host New York Boulders on Tuesday at Clover Stadium in Pomona.

Quebec trailed 1-0 when they struck for four runs to grab a 4-1 advantage - the damage done with two outs off Boulders' starter Robby Rowland.

First, David Glaude lined a single to center. Kyle Crowl then snuck a home run inside the foul pole down  the right field line and into the short porch. The long ball was Crowl's fifth of the season.

T.J. White followed with a single before a double from Josh McAdams put runners on second and third for Garrett Takamatsu, who singled to drive in both runners.

New York had grabbed a 1-0 lead in the home half of the third on an RBI groundout by Giovanni Garbella.

The Boulders inched closer with single runs in the sixth and seventh innings. In the sixth, a sacrifice fly by Austin Dennis made it 4-2; then, in the seventh, David Vinsky blasted his fifth home run of the year, a solo shot, to cut their deficit to 4-3.

The Capitales, though, answered with a run in the eighth. After singles from Marc-Antoine Lebreux and Webb Little put runners on first and third for Reece Yeargain, who bounced into a fielder's choice that plated Lebreux with the run that made it a 5-3 game.

Glaude had four hits in the win for Quebec, while Jake MacKenzie had three hits for the Boulders.

Vinsky's home run extended his hitting streak to nine games with his seventh inning home run.

Miguel Cienfuegos picked up the win for the Capitales, He went six innings, allowing two runs - one earned - on five hits while walking one and striking out three. He raised his season mark to 3-1,

Samuel Adames tossed a perfect ninth for his seventh save of the year.

Rob Rowland took the loss for the Boulders. In 5 2/3 innings of work, he surrendered four runs on 10 hits while walking two and striking out three as he fell to 2-3 on the year.
