MARTELLINI'S TWO HRs LEAD BOULDERS IN ROUT OF QUEBEC

Rockland County, NY (June 16, 2022) – Gian Martellini and Giovanni Garbella each knocked in five runs and the host New York Boulders pounded out 20 hits in a 17-6 rout of the Quebec Capitales on Thursday at Clover Stadium in Pomona.

The win gave New York the series win over Quebec after the teams had split the first two games in Pomona.

Martellini had three hits, including two home runs, while Garbella did his damage on four hits, including his second home run of the season.

Martellini connected on a two-run shot in the second inning; then followed with a three-run blast in the fourth. The two long balls gave Martellini four home runs on the year.

Garbella hit his home run, a two-run shot, in the fifth inning.

New York scored four times in the second, once in the third and then exploded for seven in the fourth to grab a 12-3 lead.  The Boulders added two in the fifth and three in the sixth.

David Vinsky and Jake MacKenzie each had three hits for the Boulders in the win, Vinsky had one RBI and MacKenzie knocked in two runs. Vinsky extended his hitting streak to 11 games,

Meanwhile, Austin Dennis, Francisco Del Valle and Max Smith had two hits apiece for New York, with Dennis having two RBI and Smith knocking in one run.

Quebec scored three times in the fourth inning with Kyle Crowl and Reece Yeargain notching an RBI apiece. David Glaude added a three-run home run, his sixth of the year, in the ninth inning for the Capitales.

Ryder Yakel, the third of four pitchers used by New York, was credited with the win. He pitched hitless sixth and seventh innings to improve to 2-0 on the year.

Michael Austin took the loss for Quebec after surrendering seven runs in three innings of work on nine hits. It was his first defeat of the season against three wins.
