BOULDERS ROUT VALLEY CATS FOR THIRD STRAIGHT WIN

Rockland County, NY (June 17, 2022) – Chris Kwitzer hit two home runs and drove in five runs to back seven strong innings on the mound from starter Dan Wirchansky as the host New York Boulders won for the third straight night, downing the Tri-City Valley Cats 11-2 on Friday at Clover Stadium in Pomona.

Kwitzer hit a two-run home run in the first inning to stake New York to a 2-0 lead; then blasted a two-run shot in the sixth to up the Boulders' advantage to 10-1. Kwitzer also singled in the third inning and added an RBI single in the fifth as he finished the evening with four hits.

The home runs gave Kwitzer seven for the year.

Meanwhile, Wirchansky, in seven innings of work, allowed only one run on five hits while striking out 10. He did not walk a batter as he improved to 3-1 on the year.

The lone run surrendered by Wirchansky was a fourth inning solo home run by Juan Santana, his fifth of the year.

Leading 2-1 in the fifth, Max Smith led off the inning for New York with a solo home run, his third of the season. Later in the frame, Kwitzer's RBI single made it 4-1.

The Boulders then broke the game open with a six-run sixth inning that featured a two-run double by Gian Martellini, an RBI double from Jake MacKenzie and Kwitzer's second home run of the evening. The offensive explosion increased the New York advantage to 10-1.

Francisco Del Valle capped off New York's scoring with an RBI groundout in the eighth inning.

Olbis Parra started and took the loss for Tri-City. He allowed 10 runs on a dozen hits in six innings as he fell to 1-2 on the year.

The Valley Cats also received an RBI single from Juan Silverio in the ninth inning.

For the Boulders, a fifth inning double extended David Vinsky's hitting streak to 12 games.
