Rockland County, NY (July 7, 2022) – Austin Dennis drove in four runs as the host New York Boulders took the rubber game of their three-game set with the Sussex County Miners, winning 8-5 on Thursday at Clover Stadium in Pomona.

Tied at 4-4 in the eighth, the Boulders exploded for four runs. Jake MacKenzie snapped the tie with a bases loaded single that scored Chris Kwitzer. A wild pitch by Miners' reliever Mitchell Senger then allowed Gabriel Garcia to cross the plate with New York's sixth run.

Dennis followed by lacing a two-run single, his third and fourth RBI of the night, to increase the Boulders' advantage to 8-4.

Sussex County jumped on Boulders' starter Robby Rowland for three first inning runs - two coming on Martin Figueroa's eighth home run of the season and the third on a Jawuan Harris single.

New York, though, chipped away, scoring once in the second and one more in the third to get within 3-2 - both runs driven in by Giovanni Garbella, who hit a solo home run in the second - his sixth long ball of the season, the second via an RBI single in the third.

The Boulders grabbed a 4-3 lead in the fourth against Miners' starter John Baker, both runs scoring on a Dennis single.

Baker gave the Miners a quality start, going six innings and surrendering four runs, three earned, on nine hits. He struck out seven and walked three as he pitched to a no decision.

Meanwhile, Rowland lasted into the eighth inning for New York and surrendered four runs. He was relieved by Matt Leon with two runners on and no one out after allowing nine hits, walking two and striking out three. Leon stranded the runners, helping himself by running down a wild pitch and diving to tag out Nilo Rijo attempting to score from third.

The Miners, however, evened matters at 4-4 in the fifth on doubles by Figueroa and Mikey Reynolds, the later driving in the tying run.

Figueroa added an RBI single in the top of the ninth for Sussex County to cap off the night's scoring. It was his third RBI of the game.

Leon got the win for New York, improving to 4-0 on the season, while Ronnie Voacolo was tagged with the loss for Sussex County, his first of the year against no wins.
