Rockland County, NY (September 1, 2022) – Gabriel Garcia drove in four runs as the host New York Boulders stayed in a tie for second place in the Eastern Division of the Frontier League with a 11-6 win over the Empire State Greys on Thursday at Clover Stadium in Pomona.

The win was the Boulders' ninth in a row. They are 27-11 since July 13.

With the Ottawa Titans sweeping a doubleheader with the Trois-Rivieres Aigles, the Titans and Boulders each stand at 54-38. Sussex County's win on Thursday at Tri-City left the Miners at 53-40 - 1 1/2 games behind New York and Ottawa and in fourth place.

Garcia had a three-run home run in the third inning, his 17th of the year, to give the Boulders a 7-4 lead. He added an RBI single in the sixth that extended the New York advantage to 9-5.

The Greys leaped in front thanks to a first inning, three-run home run from Trey Woosley, his seventh long ball of the year.

New York answered with a pair of runs in the home half of the first - one coming on a trilpe from Austin Dennis, the second on a groundout by Chris Kwitzer. The Boulders moved ahead 4-3 in the second inning on a Tucker Nathans' two-run homer, his 16th of the year and third in two games.

A Robbie Carling RBI single tied the game at 4-4 for the Greys in the top of the third; however, Garcia blasted his three-run homer in the bottom of the frame. Later in the inning, Ray Hernandez gave the Boulders an 8-4 lead with an RBI single.

Carling's second RBI single of the night in the fifth cut the Greys' deficit to 8-5.

The Boulders also received a run-scoring seventh inning single from David Vinsky that increased the New York lead to 10-5. A Hernandez eighth inning sacrifice fly made it an 11-6 game.

Jose Mercado had four hits in a losing effort for the Greys.

Leo Pineda, who came on in relief of Boulders' starter Alex Mack in the fifth inning, worked 3 2/3 innings and picked up the win, improving to 3-2 on the season.

Jay Palais started and took the loss for the Greys, falling to 0-6 on the year.
