KIVLEHAN MAKES ‘GRAND’ RETURN IN OPENING DAY BOULDERS WIN OFFICIAL FRONTIER LEAGUE BOX SCORE

Pomona, NY — The New York Boulders kicked off their season with an 12-7 win over the visiting New Jersey Jackals on Thursday in front of a crowd of 3,901 fans Thursday night. Rockland County native Patrick Kivlehan made a ‘grand’ return to his home area, popping a grand slam over the short porch in right field to cap a seven-run second inning for the Boulders. Kivlehan, who grew up roughly 15 minutes from the Boulders’ home of Clover Stadium, finished with three hits and five RBI in his Boulders debut. New York (1-0) fell into an early three-run hole, but quickly erased the deficit and took a comfortable lead that it would not relinquish. The Boulders were bolstered by the middle of their order in the win, with their Nos. 3-4-5 batters combining to go 7 for 13 with six RBI. Tucker Nathans and Gabriel Garcia each tallied two hits for New York. Matt McDermott walked four times and came around to score on three of them. Kivlehan, Garcia, and Giovanni Garbella each scored twice in the win. In addition to Kivlehan’s five RBI, Garcia, Garbella, McDermott, Thomas Walraven, and David Vinsky each drove in a run for the Boulders. Ryan Munoz earned the win for the Boulders following 3 1/3 innings of relief. Starting pitcher Tyler Keysor allowed four earned runs and two walks across 3 2/3 innings in the no-decision. Both Munoz and Keysor each struck out three batters for New York. Keon Barnum homered twice for the Jackals (0-1), driving in three runs in the loss. Ti’Quan Forbes and Alex Toral also homered for New Jersey. The win kicked off a three-game series for the Boulders, who will host the Jackals again Friday night at 7 p.m. For information on tickets, value packs and more, visit the Boulders’ official website at www.nyboulders.com. -30
