Boulders combine for four homers and 16 hits in offensive onslaught

OFFICIAL FRONTIER LEAGUE BOX SCORE

POMONA, NY —The New York Boulders showcased their offensive prowess to a crowd of 4,723 during a 17-8 rout of the Empire State Greys on Thursday.

The Boulders (10-8) wasted no time asserting their dominance in this one, erupting for an eight-run explosion in the first inning. David Vinsky's leadoff home run set the tone for the rest of the inning and the game. Vinsky added an RBI double later in the inning for the Boulders, who successfully batted around their order. Giovanni Garbella added a two-run double in the inning.

Chris Kwitzer and Gabriel Garcia each homered and drove in four runs for New York. Kwitzer, whose homer was his first of the season, finished with four hits and three runs scored to cap a career night at the plate. Tucker Nathans also went yard for the Boulders, who combined for four home runs and 16 hits in the offensive onslaught.

Despite the Greys' efforts to mount a comeback, the Boulders' pitching remained solid. Garrett Cooper struck out six and allowed just three earned runs over seven innings to earn the win. St. Thomas Aquinas College product Aaron Dona struck out the side in his professional debut.

Empire State (5-12) starter Zach Gettys was replaced by Jhoendri Herrera after one inning, and Herrera stepped up admirably to keep the Greys in check. The Boulders' defense was equally impressive, with key plays from the outfield and solid performances from the infield.

The Greys showed resilience in the third inning when J.R. DiSarcina capitalized on a wild pitch, smacking an inside-the-park home run that drove in three runs. However, their efforts ultimately fell short against the relentless Boulders' offense.

The Boulders will make their return to Clover Stadium this Saturday evening, set to face off against the Sussex County Miners at 6:30 p.m. This matchup marks the start of their highly anticipated two-game series over the weekend.
