POMONA, NY — The New York Boulders are currently battling for a spot in the East Division playoffs and are set to host a crucial six-game homestand starting Tuesday.

In addition to some exciting baseball, here is a look at the schedule of promotional events that fans of all ages can enjoy at Clover Stadium:

Saturday, August 26: Harry Potter Night & Hearing Loss Awareness Night — Come manage some mischief and embark on an enchanting adventure as Clover Stadium transforms into a realm of magic and wonder. Harry Potter Night, presented by Orange & Rockland, promises an immersive experience for witches, wizards, and Muggles alike — always. The Boulders will also be raising awareness for those who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have suffered hearing loss. The Hearing Loss Association of America will have a representative performing the national anthem in American Sign Language.

Sunday, August 27: Negro League Tribute — In conjunction with the Spring Valley and Nyack branches of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), this extraordinary event is a celebration of the remarkable legacy of the Negro Leagues and its extraordinary athletes who defied the odds to make an indelible mark on the sport. The family of former Negro League star Raydell "Lefty Bo" Maddix will be on hand for the night. Maddix's granddaughter, Leticia Thezon, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Maddix played for the Indianapolis Clowns from 1947-1953. He pitched back-to-back no-hitters, led the Negro Leagues in strikeouts in 1948-1949, and pitched against many baseball icons, including Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, and Ernie Banks. Like many of his contemporaries, his baseball career was interrupted when he was drafted in the military during the Korean War. He didn't play professionally after his return, but he played semi-pro level until he was nearly 40 years old. In 1957, he settled in Rockland County where he raised a large family, many of whom still live in Rockland. Maddix passed away in early February in Tampa, FL at the age of 94. The night will include a performance by the East Ramapo marching band, and much more. The pregame ceremony will include the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club and the East Ramapo softball team. The Boulders will be wearing Negro League-inspired uniforms for this marquee event that will play a pivotal role in the Frontier League playoff standings.

In addition to these nights, the Boulders hold promotional theme nights for all home games throughout the season. For more information regarding theme nights, value packs, individual tickets, and more, please visit the Boulders’ website at www.nyboulders.com.
