Game will be resumed in Thursday doubleheader

POMONA, NY — Wednesday night's game between the New York Boulders and Empire State Greys was suspended in the fourth inning due to torrential down pouring at Clover Stadium.

The game went into a rain delay, with the Boulders holding a 2-0 lead thanks to a Chris Kwitzer two-run home run, and was later officially suspended. The game will resume Thursday, in what will be the Boulders' third doubleheader in seven days.

The game will pick up with Empire State's Manny Garcia batting in the top of the fourth inning against the Boulders' Alex Mack. Garcia will be working with a two-ball, two-strike count at the plate. There are no outs or baserunners.

Thursday night will be Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at Clover Stadium, and will include a slew of events to commemorate the occasion. Representatives from each department in Rockland County will participate in a pregame patrol car parade on the field, led by mounted detail.

Rockland County Sheriff Lou Falco III will throw out the ceremonial first pitch, and the national anthem will be sung by Detective James Russell of the Rockland County Sheriff’s Department.

Following the national anthem, there will be a helicopter flyover by the Rockland County emergency services. Honor guards from the Ramapo, Clarkstown, and Haverstraw police departments, as well as the Sheriff’s department, will be presented.

During the game, various law enforcement displays will be on the concourse level, including drones, K-9 and bloodhound units, bicycle patrol officers, bomb squad, arson van, crime scene van, SWAT, and more.

All active and retired law enforcement officers will receive two free tickets to the game with valid identification.

The Boulders (44-33) are currently in a push for the Frontier League playoffs, sitting one place out of the final playoff spot in the East Division. A series sweep of Empire State (15-64) would give New York some much needed momentum heading into a crucial four-game road series against first-place Quebec.
