Pitcher Returns for Second Year with Boulders

(POMONA, NY) - Pitcher Alex Gouin signed a new deal with the Rockland Boulders on Tuesday, bringing the right-hander back to Pomona for a second straight year.

In his rookie season, Gouin burst on to the scene with an 8-4 record and a 3.84 earned run average in 18 appearances. The 24-year-old started 14 games, tossing one complete game and pitching in more than 98 innings with 53 strikeouts. 

His 3.15 ERA in the regular season was second among Rockland starters, only behind Richard Salazar. After coming out of the pen in his first four games, Gouin won three of his first four decisions and went 4-1 in his first six starts. From August 2-19, the Boulders won four straight games started by the rookie who posted a 3-0 record in those games. 

Rockland begins the 2016 season on Thursday, May 19th at 7:00 pm when they welcome in the Sussex County Miners.
