Rockland Adds Lefty Reliever For 2016

(POMONA, NY) - The Rockland Boulders bolstered their bullpen on Monday with the signing of left-handed pitcher Mike Gomez.

Gomez enters his third season of professional ball after seeing time in the Chicago White Sox organization in each of the last two years. A 13th round draft pick of Chicago in the 2014 draft, Gomez quickly impressed by posting a 2-0 record and a 1.27 earned run average in 13 appearances in Rookie ball.

"We had actually heard about Mike from Junior Arrojo who had been working out at FIU and saw him pitch in college," notes Jamie Keefe, Boulders Manager. "He put up great numbers his first season with the White Sox and in college. He's been throwing all winter and throwing really well so to add a lefty relief pitcher was a no-brainer for us."

A 2014 graduate of Florida International University, the 6'1" southpaw owns the school record for career saves with 25, including 13 in 2012, third most in a single-season. Despite suffering a season-ending injury the following year, Gomez ranked 12th in the nation in saves in 2014, helping the Panthers to a 36-win season.
