(POMONA, NY) - The Rockland Boulders announced the addition of two new players to the team for the 2016 season. Pitcher Edgar Valle and infielder Riley Palmer will make their Rockland debut this summer, looking to help the team win it's third Can-Am pennant.

A native of Miami, Florida, Valle has seen baseball take him to all corners of the globe. Graduating from NAIA powerhouse Northwood University (TX), he posted a 2.38 earned run average in 2013, his senior year. The 6'2" righty then entered the professional ranks with the Florence Freedom of the Frontier League in 2014 before spending parts of 2015 in the Australian Baseball League with the Perth Heat. The 2015-16 ABL season saw Valle get paired with Rockland shortstop, and Can-Am All-Star, Junior Arrojo.

"Junior told me that Edgar is a bulldog on the mound," said Boulders Manager Jamie Keefe. "He is really excited to work with Carlos and learn how to pitch on this level and we are just as excited to have him."

A 2014 draft pick of the Baltimore Orioles, Palmer burst onto the scene with the Aberdeen Ironbirds, posting a .273 batting average with five home runs and 29 RBI in limited action. He put up similar numebrs at Single-A Delmarva in 2015, splitting time at first base and left field. The 6'4" left-handed hitter graduated from Southern New Hampshire University in 2014, helping the Penmen to a Northeast-10 Championship and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

"Riley is a hard-nosed player," noted Boulders Manager Jamie Keefe. "He had success in the Orioles organization and has been a winner at every level of his baseball career. We know he'll have that same type of success here with us."

The Boulders begin their 2016 season on Thursday, May 19th when they host the Sussex County Miners. Individual game tickets are now on sale here.
