(POMONA, NY) - The Rockland Boulders acquired a pair of relief arms, Hector Nelo and Jarret Martin, in a trade with the Laredo Lemurs of the American Association in exchange for cash.

Entering his tenth season of professional baseball, Nelo joined the San Diego Padres organization this spring after pitching in 35 games for the New Jersey Jackals in 2015. The righty recorded 21 saves in the Can-Am last year, helping the Jackals to a fifth straight appearance in the League Championship Series. Originally from Venezuela, the 6'1", 205lbs. reliever was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 15th round of the 2007 Amateur draft. He played in Double-A from 2012 to 2014, spending time in the Cincinnati, Washington, and Los Angeles Dodgers.

"Hector is a power arm and is a fantastic addition at the back end of any bullpen," said Boulders manager Jamie Keefe. "We are very excited from him to be a Boulder and have him on our side. With his experience, Hector is someone doesn't need to prove his worth."

After six years in organized ball, Jarret Martin enters his first season among the independents. He spent 2015 in the Milwaukee Brewers farm system after three season with the Dodgers. A 6'3" lefty, Martin pitched the entire 2014 season at Double-A Chattanooga, posting a 3.29 ERA with seven saves in 44 relief appearances. Drafted by Baltimore in 2008 and 2009, he played his first two seasons of professional ball in the Orioles system where he was primarily a starter.

"We are excited to have someone with a ton of experience in a number of roles," noted Keefe. "Jarret's a big lefty arm and will be a huge asset to our rotation or our bullpen."

Nelo, Martin, and the rest of the Boulders begin their quest for a third straight regular season title on Thursday, May 19th at 7:00pm when they host the Sussex County Miners. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will get 2016 Magnetic Schedules while everyone can enjoy a post-game Fireworks Extravaganza. It's also the first $1 Beers Night, presented by Budweiser!
