Black Knights Will Host Hartford on Mother’s Day

(POMONA, NY) – The Rockland Boulders, in conjunction with Army West Point Athletics, announced that the Black Knights baseball team will host the Hartford Hawks on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Palisades Credit Union Park. The contest marks the first Army West Point athletic event to be held at the home of the Rockland Boulders.

“Our team is extremely excited to take part in this game,” head coach Matt Reid said. “Having the opportunity to showcase our program in a first-class facility will be a memorable experience for our players, staff and fans. We are looking forward to playing against a very good opponent in Hartford and treating our fans to a terrific day of baseball.”

Continuing a Rockland Boulders Sunday mainstay, the Mother’s Day matinee will feature “Kids Run the Bases” following the conclusion of the game. Fans are also encouraged to have a post-game catch on the field with Mom following the final out. The contest will be free of charge, but fans looking to attend the game will require a ticket to enter. All ticketing information will be released at a later date. Concession stands will also be open for the Division I NCAA game.

“We are delighted to partner with the Rockland Boulders organization to make this experience possible,” Army West Point Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan said. “We will continue to provide unique opportunities for our cadet-athletes and I am confident it will be a tremendous event for them, our staff and our fans.”

Army compiled a 21-26 record in 2015, and open up the 2016 season on February 19 when they take on the Bryant Bulldogs at the USA Baseball Complex in Cary, North Carolina. The Rockland Boulders, and Army have been continuing partners for the last four seasons, including advertising with one another as well as having members of the West Point Color Guard and Band attend and perform the National Anthem at games throughout the season.

”It is a distinct honor to partner with Army West Point so that the Black Knights baseball team can compete at Palisades Credit Union Park in May,” said Ken Lehner President.  “America is the definition of freedom because of the dedication of cadets, active members of the military and veterans.  We will use this baseball game as an opportunity to thank one and all for their service and sacrifices.”

The Rockland Boulders also host a “Military Appreciation Night” each season, honoring the men and women of the armed forces. The 2016 contest will be held on Friday, June 3rd, as the Boulders host the Quebec Capitales for a 7:00 pm start.

Palisades Credit Union Park is home to the 2015 Can-Am League regular season champion Rockland Boulders, and features a 360-degree concourse, 5,800 fixed seats, as well as premium seating in suites, loge boxes, and catered areas such as the Budweiser Short Porch and Bud Light Bridge Bar. A family-friendly atmosphere, Palisades Credit Union Park also houses a playground in the right field area of the concourse and the Boulders “B” Train, offering a fun view of the ballpark.

The Boulders will open up their 2016 season on May 19 with a 7:00 pm first pitch against the Sussex County Miners. Rockland will also host their annual exhibition game with the NYPD’s Finest on Saturday, May 14 at 6:30 pm.
