(POMONA, NY) - For the first time in franchise history, the Rockland Boulders will have a German-born player on their roster. Markus Solbach, a 24-year-old pitcher agreed to terms with the team on Thursday.

"Markus is a powerful, right-handed starter and a workhouse," explained Boulders manager Jamie Keefe. "He has been an innings eater with the Diamondbacks organization and we are ecstatic to have a guy with his kind of arm in our rotation."

A native of Cologne, Germany, Solbach spent the last two years in Arizona's farm system, going 11-6 as a starter at both Advanced-A Visalia and Single-A Kane County last season. In 2014, he began the year with Windy City of the Frontier League before being picked up by Diamondbacks and appearing in 16 games.

The 6'5", 205-lbs. righty began his professional career in 2011 with the Minnesota Twins, posting a 3-3 mark with a 1.91 ERA in rookie ball. Solbach remained with the Twins until 2013 when he joined Windy City and went 5-1 for the ThunderBolts.

Other Notes: The Boulders also released RHP Marcus Jensen and traded RHP Daniel Carela to York (Atlantic League) for a player to be named later.
