Shortstop Inks Deal for 2016 Season

(POMONA, NY) - Following an All-Star season in 2015, shortstop Junior Arrojo will return for another year in Rockland. The Boulders and Arrojo agreed to terms earlier this week.

The 27-year-old hit .315 last year, driving in 44 runs, and racking up 106 total hits. His 43 stolen bases set a new franchise record, and sits just four behind former Boulder Stephen Cardullo for the team's all-time mark. Arrojo also set the Rockland record for most hit by pitches in a season (36) and in a career (53).

Coming off a career year at the plate, Arrojo also showcased his impressive ability in the field. The Miami, Fla. native helped turn 61 double plays, setting a league record for most games played at shortstop in a season with 96 earning him an All-Star nod last season.

A fan-favorite, Arrojo will enter his third year in Rockland and his sixth year as a professional. A graduate of Florida International University, he played his first three seasons with the Florence Freedom of the Frontier League.

Arrojo, who was part of Rockland's only two Can-Am League regular season titles, will look to help the Boulders capture a third straight pennant beginning on Thursday, May 19th at 7:00pm when they host the Sussex County Miners. Tickets are still available by calling (845) 364-0009, visiting the Box Office or by clicking here.
