The Rockland Boulders inked another catcher to their 2016 roster today, adding 22-year-old Bryan De La Rosa to the club. A right-handed hitter from Florida, this is the fifth year of professional baseball for De La Rosa, his first in the Independent Leagues.

A third-round pick of the Atlanta Braves in 2012, De La Rosa spent four years in their farm system, playing all of last year with Single-A Rome. The 5'8", 193lbs. backstop put up his best power numbers to date, belting five home runs and driving in 23 runs in  79 games.

"Bryan was a part of our invitational tryout and we were impressed with him defensively," said Boulders manager Jamie Keefe. "I saw him call a simulated game and he certainly has the baseball IQ to give himself the opportunity to be an everyday catcher at this level. Offensively, he's got a little bit of pop and we're looking forward to seeing him more this spring."

A native of Puerto Rico, De La Rosa also played three years in the Puerto Rican Winter League, appearing in six games for San Juan in 2014.

Other Notes: The Rockland Boulders also placed relief pitcher Chad Robinson on irrevocable waivers for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release. Robinson spent two years with the Boulders, recording the final out in the 2014 Championship Series with a strikeout of New Jersey's Jon Talley.
