(POMONA, NY) – Rockland Boulders shortstop Junior Arrojo was named the Can-Am League’s Pointstreak Player of the Week, as announced by the league’s statistician on Monday afternoon. This is the first ever Can-Am League weekly honor for Arrojo, and the third straight year that a Boulders player has taken home the first award of the season.

Arrojo started out the year with a power surge, belting home runs in three straight games, and collecting 12 runs batted in over the course of the first four games. Both of those total lead the league out of the gate, while his .467 batting average ranks fifth among Can-Am hitters. Arrojo also leads the league in slugging percentage (1.267), doubles (3), and hit-by-pitches (2) after the first weekend.

The Boulders opened up the season going 2-2 against the Sussex County Miners. Arrojo hit homers in each of the final three games of the series, including a six-RBI outburst on Saturday night in an 8-1 victory. His six-RBI night ties a franchise record held by four others, as he begins the year on a four-game hit streak and has recorded multi-RBI nights in each of his last three contests.

Arrojo and the rest of the Boulders resume play on Tuesday, May 24th, when they host the Ottawa Champions in the first of three games, starting at 6:30pm at Palisades Credit Union Park. It’s a special “Two-for-Twosday” with select concession items being just $2 each! It’s also a Bingo Night, presented by DeCicco Family Markets with fun prizes up for grabs. Great seats are still available by visiting the box office, calling (845) 364-0009 or by sliding to www.RocklandBoulders.com.
