(POMONA, NY) – With a leadoff walk in the bottom of the first inning of Thursday night’s contest, Rockland Boulders outfielder Jared McDonald reached base for the 75th consecutive regular season, setting a new all-time minor league record. McDonald finished the game 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs and two walks as the Boulders went on to defeat the Quebec Capitales 8-5 at Palisades Credit Union Park.

McDonald’s impressive streak began on July 1st, 2015 and continued throughout the remainder of the regular season. He picked up right where he left off this year, reaching base safely in each of the team’s first 14 games of the year. During the course of his streak, the outfielder has posted a .330 batting average as well as a .438 on-base percentage.

The record surpasses the previous mark of 74 which was completed by Arizona Diamondbacks prospect Andrew Velazquez during the 2014 season. Other players with streaks of at least 70 games include Kevin Millar (1997) and Kevin Youkilis (2003). The all-time professional baseball record is 84 consecutive games, set by Hall of Famer Ted Williams back in 1949.

McDonald will now turn his attention to the “Splendid Splinter’s” record as the Boulders host the Quebec Capitales on Friday, June 3rd at Palisades Credit Union Park. The game is set to begin at 7:00pm, with gates opening at 6:00pm. It is Military Appreciation Night with the first 2,500 fans receiving a commemorative camo cap and all active duty/retired military personnel receiving complimentary admission.
