(Pomona, NY) - On Monday night, The Rockland Boulders nabbed the first game of the series against the last-place Trois-Rivieres Aigles. The score was 2-1.

The Aigles took a 1-0 lead in the first inning thanks to an RBI single from Bobby Coyle, Jr. The shortstop, Delvis Morales, would come in to score. Jared McDonald picked up his fourth double of the season in the bottom of the inning. He was tagged out at the plate after Mike Fransoso flied out to the left fielder, Sam Judah, who threw a bullet home to keep the Boulders from scoring.

After a few quiet innings, the Boulders made their presence known with Mike Montville. The right fielder crushed a two-run homer to left field in the bottom of the fourth inning, the first of his career. Heading into the top of the fifth, the Boulders lead it 2-1. The score would stick for the remainder of the night.

Hot off the DL, Marcus Nidiffer threatened to hit the second home run of the night against the Aigles’ starting pitcher, Matthew Rusch. He hit a rocket to right field in the bottom of the fifth, but Yeixon Ruiz was able to track it down and put it in his pocket. A big out for the visiting team kept the Boulders from extending their lead for the pitcher, Markus Solbach, now 2-1 on the season.

Solbach has pitched a combined 32.0 IP over the course of his four starts this season. He was dominant during tonight’s outing, giving up only one run on eight hits. He struck out eight, bringing his grand total for the year up to 27. Hector Nelo would enter the game in the ninth, and get the save.

The Boulders will look for another win tomorrow morning at 10:30am against the Aigles, who are now 3-14. The Boulders advance to 10-7. Tickets are available by visiting the box office,, or by calling (845) 364-0009.
