BOULDERS WIN GAME 2 OF 4 GAME SERIES AGAINST AIGLES 7-3

(POMONA N.Y.) – Hundreds of fans sported their Boulders patriotic hats with pride as they watched the Rockland Boulders dominate 7-3 in their game against Trois-Rivieres Aigles on the Saturday night of 4th of July weekend.

Jared McDonald led off the first inning with a double, and soon after that was able to score for the Boulders after an error from the Aigles shortstop, Delvis Morales. Morales threw a ball which was deflected off McDonalds helmet into the dugout allowing McDonald to run home from third. This gave the Boulders an early 1-0 lead on the Aigles.

The Aigles wouldn’t let the Boulders keep the upper hand for long. The Aigles quickly responded, tieing it up at 1 in the top of the third. Ryan Brockett ripped a drive just past Schlehubers glove, resulting in a double for Brockett and allowing Joey Miller to bring in a run for the Aigles.

The Aigles threatened again in the top of the fourth when Daniel Mateo slammed a ball deep into right field which was headed for a home run, but Mike Montville came to the rescue with a spectacular, full extension diving catch to get out number 2 for the Aigles.

Newly acquired Devin Harris took advantage of his opportunity to finally break the 1-1 tie in the bottom of the fourth when bases were loaded and he was up at bat. Harris belted a 2 run single to bring home Nidiffer and Schlehuber advancing the Boulders lead to 3-1.

The bottom of the fourth wasn’t over just yet for the Boulders. Jared McDonald followed Harris’s 2 run single by hitting his second double of the game, a 2 run RBI, which brought home McKenna and Harris to give the Boulders a huge 5-1.

The Boulders lead continued to skyrocket as Pat McKenna hit a sacrifice fly with bases loaded to bring home Fransoso from third to make it 6-1.

The Boulders continued to dominate through the rest of the game, scoring another run in the seventh inning. The Boulders claimed a 7-3 victory against the Aigles, giving Solbach his 5th win this season. The Rockland Boulders are now (24-17) and the Trois-Rivieres Aigles are (10-30) this season.
