LITTLE FALLS, NJ- The Boulders offense, led by Mike Montville and Devin Harris, plastered the Jackals on Wednesday 11-4 at Yogi Berria Stadium.

After scoring three runs in the first inning courtesy of RBI singles from Jared Schlehuber and Mike Fransoso, Rockland (30-21) never looked back. In the third, Mike Montville added three runs after smashing his sixth home run of the season, which is good for third on the team, only behind Marcus Nidiffer and Jared McDonald.

Devin Harris would add another three-run homer in the fifth inning, his second with the team. Harris finished the day 3-4 with 3RBI and a run scored. Junior Arrojo would tack on the eleventh run in the top of the seventh after grounding into a double play.

The Jackals (32-19) started James Stokes (1-1), who could not stop the Boulder offense, only throwing 3.1 innings, while allowing seven runs, all of them earned. David Anderson came in relief and didn’t fare much better, pitching 2.2 innings while allowing four more runs.

The Jackals found themselves in walk trouble early and often against Rockland. In total, the Boulder offense finished with nine walks, headlined by Pat McKenna’s four, which fell one shy of the Can-Am single game record.

Rockland countered Stokes with David Fischer (3-2) who was sailing smoothly until allowing two runs on an RBI triple in the fourth inning. He would start the sixth inning, but wouldn’t get out of it, as he loaded the bases with nobody out.

Daniel Carela then came on in relief, and limited the damage to only two runs, both tagged to Fischer. An inning ending double play with runners on the corners was instrumental in helping Carela stop the bleeding. Edgar Valle continued his hot pitching by striking out the side in the eighth, and Hector Nelo sealed the game for Rockland with a scoreless ninth.

The win pulled the Boulders within two games of the New Jersey Jackals for the Can-Am league lead. The Boulders will try to move within a game of the leaders tomorrow night at 7 P.M. at Palisades Credit Union Park, as they close out the three game set.
