(OTTAWA, ON)– Extra Innings were not enough to stop the Rockland Boulders in their second game in the series against the Ottawa Champions, as they claimed a 4-3 victory on Saturday night. 

Junior Arrojo started off his first at-bat by continuing his on-base streak when he advanced to first on a walk in the first inning. This is Arrojo’s 72nd consecutive game that he has reached base safely and is now only three away from tying Jared McDonald who holds the record at 75 consecutive games.

A total of six walks in two innings allowed the Boulders to threaten early in the game by loading up the bases, which helped them to score 3 runs in the second inning.  Devin Harris hit a 2 run RBI single to to allow both Jared Schlehuber and Mike Fransoso to score making the score 2-0.  Shortly after this bases were loaded up again and a sacrifice fly to right field by Arrojo allowed Montville to score from third and extend the Boulders lead to 3-0.

Salazar retired the side in the third, keeping the Champions off the scoreboard. McDonald made an amazing over the shoulder catch on a Albert Cartwright fly ball to get out number 2 for the Champions, which was followed by a putout from Daniel Bick for out number three to quickly end the inning.

Harris continued to bring the heat for the Boulders in the top of the fourth by belting a triple into deep right field, however, Ottawa relief pitcher, Cunningham, was able to work out of the jam and Harris was unable to score for the Boulders.  

A solo shot home run deep into left field from Sebastien Boucher in the bottom of the fourth cut the Boulders lead to 3-1. The Boulders lead then evaporated in the eighth when Donal Duarte scored from third to make the score 3-2,  followed by a single from Alexander Malleta scoring Kenny Bryant to tie up the game 3-3. 

Mike Montville hit an RBI single in extra innings to give the Boulders a much needed 4-3 lead. The Boulders were able to hold onto their 4-3 lead throughout the remainder of the game and a 1-6-3 double play ended it in extra innings.

The Boulders are now (33-21) and the Champions are (29-26). The Boulders look to sweep the series against the Ottawa Champions tomorrow at 1:30 p.m.
