(POMONA, NY) – Rockland Boulders catcher Marcus Nidiffer was selected to take part in the American Assocation Home Run Derby on Monday, August 1, 2016 at CHS Field, home of the St. Paul Saints. Nidiffer will join eight other competitors from both the American Association and the Can-Am League.

Nidiffer currently ranks second in the Can-Am, and first among Boulders hitters, with 11 homers this season. That is coming after a career high 23 a year ago. The Rockland captain was also selected to the All-Star Game, along with teammate Junior Arrojo and manager Jamie Keefe.

The 29-year-old backstop will do battle with fellow Can-Am League slugger Art Charlers (New Jersey), as well as seven hitters from the American Association, including league leader Burt Reynolds of the Texas AirHogs. The three-round format will see each hitter receive 10 outs with any swing not resulting in a home run counting as an out. Any homer after nine outs will count double. The top four totals will advance to the semifinals with each participant being seeded based off their first round performance. All ties will be decided by regular season homers with a second tie breaker being a coin flip. The winner of each semifinal will advance to the Championship Round.

Fans can watch the festivities live online at www.americanassociationbaseball.tv beginning at 8:00pm.
