Boulders Earn Weekly Award for Second Straight Week

(POMONA, NY) – Rockland Boulders pitcher David Fischer was named the Can-Am League Pitcher of the Week as announced by the league’s official statistican, Pointstreak. It marks the second straight week a Boulders player received a league honor, following outfielder Devin Harris’ award last week.

Fischer allowed just two earned runs in more than 15 innings of work during the week, going 1-0 in the process. The 6’4” righty compiled 16 strikeouts in two starts, walking only three batters and giving up just ten hits. His best outing came on Tuesday morning at Sussex County when he tossed eight and one-thirds innings, allowing one run and striking out 11 batters. He followed up that performance with a no-decision on Sunday, going seven innings and allowing three runs, one earned, against Ottawa. The Boulders won both of his starts this week, going 3-3 in their six games.

Rockland faces Sussex County in the 2nd annual “Cooperstown Can-Am Classic” and Doubleday Field on Tuesday afternoon. They return home against the Miners on Wednesday, July 26th at 11:00am at Palisades Credit Union Park.
