POMONA, NY- In a matchup between two of the Can-Am’s best teams, the Rockland Boulders took down the New Jersey Jackals, 4-2 at Palisades Credit Union Park. 
    It all started with another fantastic outing on the mound for Brett Palanski (2-1). While his no-hitter was broken up in the third, he still made quick work of New Jersey (50-33). His only blemish through the sixth inning was a home run by catcher Richard Stock in the top of the fourth. New Jersey would only score their second run after an error by shortstop Junior Arrojo, giving Palanski a final line of seven innings, one earned run, with five strikeouts and no walks. 
    Meanwhile, things were clicking on the offensive side for Rockland (46-38). They took the lead in the first off of an RBI single by Marcus Nidiffer that drove in Arrojo. Schlehuber would then drive in their second run with another home run, as he continued to stay hot. Rockland would score another run off of New Jersey starter Isaac Pavlik (6-2) in the seventh, when Elvin Soto led off with a homer. 
    The blast would chase Pavlik, and the Boulders pounced on his replacement, Robert Stock. Junior Arrojo would drive in Pat McKenna with an RBI single after he had led off with a walk. The hit made the score 4-2, which would hold until then end. Arrojo led the Boulder offense, finishing 2-4 with a run scored and an RBI, while Nidiffer finished 2-3 with an RBI.     
    Pat Butler then took over for Palanski in the eighth, and fired a quick shutout inning to keep the Boulders ahead. Hector Nelo came in for the save in the ninth, and gave Boulders fans a little bit a scare, allowing two runners to get aboard via walks. However, he forced Johnny Bladel to pop out, ending the game, and giving Nelo his 13th save of the season.  
    Jared Schlehuber continued on his torrid pace as of late. In the past seven games, Schlehuber has hit four home runs, has recorded eight hits, while driving in eleven runs. In Palanski’s past two games, he has pitched 13 innings, while only permitting six hits. He has allowed only three earned runs during that span. The win now pulls the Boulders within four and a half games from first place in the Can-Am league. 
    The Boulders try to keep their four game winning streak alive Saturday evening against the New Jersey Jackals, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:30 PM. A fireworks show is scheduled afterwards, giving the fans the chance to watch two firework shows hosted by the Boulders.
