(POMONA, NY) – As the Rockland Boulders make a push for their third straight Can-Am League regular season title, they will do so by honoring one of their all-time great players in Stephen Cardullo. Cardullo, who made his Major League debut for the Colorado Rockies on Friday, became the first Boudlers alumni to make it to Major League Baseball. He played three season for Rockland, including starting in left field in 2015, and holds numerous team records.

Cardullo then went on to record his first Major League hit and run scored in Colorado’s 8-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night. To honor this historic feat, the Rockland Boulders announced on Tuesday that they will rename the left field bleacher area “Cardullo’s Corner” for the rest of the 2016 season, including playoffs. The move pays homage to the utility player who spent 160 of his 285 games in left field, while also commemorating where his first-inning grand slam in Game 5 of the 2014 Can-Am Championship landed.

“It’s hard to imagine that less than a year ago, Stephen Cardullo was a Rockland Boulder,” said Team President Ken Lehner. “However, when you realize how hard he worked both on and off the field, it’s not hard to believe that he is a Major League Baseball player today!”
