First Baseman Becomes Second Boulder to Earn Honor

(POMONA, NY) – The Can-Am League announced on Thursday that Rockland Boulders first baseman Jared Schlehuber was named the Rawling’s Player of the Month for the month of August. He becomes the second straight Boulder to earn the monthly honor after Devin Harris won the award in July.

Schlehuber hit an impressive .309 in 27 games in August with nine home runs and 25 runs batted in. Entering August, the first baseman had just five homers and only 45 RBI on the year. That offensive outburst helped the Boulders go 17-10 in the month and put them in contention for a third straight regular season title.

Overall, Schlehuber is batting .275 on the season with 14 homers and 70 RBI, ranking in the top-5 in both home runs and RBI. He is also among the league leaders in doubles and extra base hits, helping to power an offense that ranks third in the Can-Am.

Rockland is in the midst of a seven-day homestand to close out the regular season, and sit just three games behind league-leading New Jersey in the standings. The Boulders look to sweep the Ottawa Champions tonight at 7:00pm when the teams meet at Palisades Credit Union Park. It would be the second straight series sweep for the team that has also won eight consecutive games.

Great seats are still available for tonight’s contest with gates opening at 6:00pm and with post-game Fireworks following the final out. To purchase tickets, visit the box office, or slide to www.RocklandBoulders.com.
