Catcher and Shortstop Earn All-Star Nods for Second Straight Year

(POMONA, NY) – For the second time this year, Marcus Nidiffer and Junior Arrojo were named All-Stars after earning spots on the Can-Am League squad as announced by the league on Friday. Both Nidiffer and Arrojo also played in the American Association All-Star Game on August 2nd in St. Paul, Minnesota. It is the second straight year that each of them earned Can-Am All-Star nods.

The top shortstop for the second straight year, Arrojo is in the midst of a race for the Can-Am batting title. He is currently second with a .350 batting average, but leads the league in stolen bases with 43 swipes this season. Arrojo is also on pace to shatter the Can-Am record for on-base percentage with a .488 percentage. Defensively, he has been stellar once again with a league high 351 assists and turning 46 double plays.

The team captain, Nidiffer is among the top-3 in the league in home runs (17) and runs batted in (71). A top-tier catcher as well, he enters the final weekend of the regular season throwing out a league-high 15 attempted base stealers. One of Rockland’s unquestioned leaders, he has helped control a pitching staff that holds a 4.14 ERA, but one that posted a 3.78 ERA in the month of August.

Both players will look to help capture Rockland’s third straight regular season championship as they host the New Jersey Jackals this weekend. The five-game series includes the conclusion of a rain suspended contest tonight, September 2nd, which begins at 6:00pm at Palisades Credit Union Park. Great seats are still available by visiting the box office, calling (845) 364-0009, or sliding to www.RocklandBoulders.com.
