Boulders Face Elimination at Home on Saturday

(QUEBEC CITY, Quebec) – Devin Harris drove in a pair of runs for Rockland but it wasn’t enough as Quebec earned a 4-2 win over the Boulders in Game Two of the Can-Am League Semifinals on Friday night. With the win, Les Capitales takes a commanding 2-0 series lead, pushing Rockland to the brink of elimination.

After a scoreless first inning, Quebec got on the board in the second inning thanks to a Tanner Nivins RBI single. Les Capitales would add to the lead in the third when David Fischer’s wild pitch allowed Roel Santos to score, making it a 2-0 advantage.

Rockland quickly answered in the top of the third on a Devin Harris solo home run to left off Jorge Reyes. Yurisbel Gracial extended the Quebec lead in the fifth with an RBI double, giving Les Capitales a 3-1 advantage after five innings. The Boulders did threaten to take the lead in the sixth after Harris doubled home a run and Rockland proceeded to load the bases with one out. However, Adrian Garza would strike out the next two batters to end the frame. In total, the Boulders left 10 runners on base including seven in scoring position.

Quebec would tack on a much needed insurance run in the bottom of the seventh when Marcus Nidiffer’s throw back to the pitcher was off the mark, allowing Santos to score from third. Reyes (1-0) got the win for Les Capitales going five and one-third innings giving up two runs on five hits. The loss was charged to Fischer (0-1) who allowed three runs on four hits in six innings of work. Shaun Ellis got the save with a scoreless ninth inning.
