Earlier today, the Boulders ended their losing streak defeating the Quebec Capitales by the final score of 6-4.

The Boulders got off to a rough start early falling behind by 4 runs in the first two innings of the game due to a three run homerun in the first inning by first baseman Jordan Lennerton and an rbi single by Yordan Manduley.

Boulders starter Justin Topa would get it together after struggling in the first two innings, pitching 4 straight innings of shut out baseball and allowing no walks throughout the game.

Topa’s valiant effort allowed the Boulders to consistently chip away and get themselves back into the game. The Boulders pushed their first run across in the 4th inning thanks to a sacrifice fly by third baseman Cody Regis that scored Marcus Nidiffer.

Cody Regis would come through again in the 6th inning blasting a two run homerun off of Quebec’s starter Lazaro Blanco that brought the Boulders to within one run of tying the game.

The Boulders would continue their hot hitting in the 7th, pushing across two more runs thanks to an rbi single by Joe Maloney that would make the score 5-4, and give the Boulders their first lead of the game. Jared McDonald added an insurance run in the 8th inning with an rbi single that scored Joe Bennie giving the Boulders a 6-4 to lead.

The bullpen for the Boulders would come through, pitching three shutout innings, two by reliever Alex Farina who struck out one, and one by closer Mayckol Guaipe who pitched a shutout inning retiring the side in order and  recording the save.  This would also give the Boulders their first win of the road trip, and improving their record to 13-5 on the season.

The Boulders continue their road trip Monday going up against the Ottawa Champions at 7:05 pm.
