Despite a big pitching improvement from the previous two games, the Rockland Boulders were unable to beat the New Jersey Jackals as they lost 4-1. Chris Carmain (3-2) took the loss despite pitching a quality start. He went 6 1/3 innings and surrendered three runs.  Andres Caceres (4-2) received the win by giving up one run in six innings.

Both teams got on the board with solo home runs in the second inning.  Brian Burgamy, who came into the game with seven hits in eight at bats in the series, hit a home run over the short porch to put New Jersey up.  Mike Montville tied the game in the bottom of inning with a shot of his own to left field.

The deadlock would be broken when Dvontrey Richardson doubled in the fifth inning, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Adam Martin, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Johnny Bladel to give the Jackals the advantage.  New Jersey added to their lead in the seventh because of an error by Cody Regis with the bases loaded to make the score 3-1.

Richardson added another insurance run for the Jackals with a ninth inning home run off of closer Jon Velasquez.  The Boulders would be unable to overcome the deficit.  The Boulders remain two games ahead of the Jackals for first place of the CanAm at 32-14.  Rockland will travel to Sussex County to face the Miners tomorrow.
