Boulders Receive Six Spots in Summer Classic

The Rockland Boulders and the CanAm League announced the CanAm League All Star Team for 2017 earlier today with six of the twenty roster spots belonging to the Rockland Boulders.  The All Star game will take place on July 25th at RCGT Park in Ottawa.

 

First baseman Joe Maloney, third baseman Cody Regis, and left fielder Jon Smith were all named starters, while second baseman Dylan Tice will go as part of the reserve unit.  Starting pitchers Markus Solbach and Justin Topa were named to the pitching staff, which will be managed by Ottawa Champions manager Hal Lanier.  All six selections are among the league leaders in the CanAm.

 

Maloney currently leads the league in RBI’s with 57, and his 17 homeruns on the season has him ranked second among all hitters.  Following right behind him is Smith, with 15, and Regis is currently tied for fifth place with 8.  Regis was also named the CanAm League Player of the Week twice this season, winning it back to back on May 28th and June 4th.  All three have also been named a Core Power Elite Player of the Game this season as well.  Dylan Tice currently leads the Boulders in batting average, batting an incredible .359, which currently has him ranked fifth in the league.  The Perkasie, PA native was also named the CanAm Player of the Week to start the season.

 

Topa currently leads the league in wins with seven.  The right-hander from Binghamton, NY is currently 7-1 with a 3.85 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 9 games, and has been named the CanAm Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 4th.

 

Solbach, is currently 6-1, with his first loss coming this past Tuesday against the Jackals.  A native of Pulheim Germany, the right hander is currently tied for second place in the league for wins, and was also named the CanAm Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 11th.  He currently has struck out 38 in 56 innings this season.
