A ninth inning rally by the Sussex County Miners did not rattle the Rockland Boulders as they won 6-2 in extra innings. Markus Solbach was dominant for the Boulders as he pitched seven shutout innings and struck out nine batters. Michael Tamburino started for the Miners and went 7.1 innings, allowing one unearned run in 7.1 innings. Jon Velasquez (1-0) picked up his first win of the season while Mark McCoy (2-2) took the loss.

Offense was hard to come by in the game, as there was no score through the first four innings. Aaron Wilson was able to score the first run of the game by coming home from first base on an error by Chase McDonald to give Rockland the lead.

The score remained the same until the ninth inning when Wilson scored his second run of the game on an RBI groundout by Jared McDonald to give the Boulders some breathing room.

However, Jay Baum homered in the bottom of the ninth with McDonald on base to send the game into extra innings. Nonetheless, the Boulders remained resilient in tenth. Mike Fransoso picked up a base hit with the bases loaded to score Joe Maloney and Cody Regis. Daniel Arribas then singled to bring home Mike Montville and Fransoso giving the Boulders a 6-2 lead.

Velasquez rebounded to pitch a shutout final inning to seal the win. Rockland is now 35-15. The team has an off day tomorrow before returning home to face the second place Quebec Capitales at 6:30 p.m.
