Milestone Expected this Saturday

Ramapo, NY – The Rockland Boulders are expected to welcome their one-millionth fan to Palisades Credit Union Park as part of tonight’s Star Wars Night double-header.  Since joining the Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball (Can Am League) as an expansion franchise in 2011, Rockland has been the league leader in total home attendance.

Dubbed as the “Summer of One Million Fans,” the anticipation has built over the course of the 2017 season and the Boulders plan to celebrate the milestone in a big way. In addition to a fun-filled night of professional baseball, the lucky fan will receive a customized commemorative Boulders jersey; a pair of tickets to the next 1,000 games; will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and be part of the pregame line-up exchange with manager Jamie Keefe; and receive a catered dinner from the team chef in a loge box, with other prizes expected to be added.

Corporate partners of the organization have offered special prizes of their own, including a $100 play card to Dave and Busters, a $100 gift certificate to Texas de Brazil, an overnight stay at The Time Nyack, a $100 gift certificate to the Mercedes-Benz of Nanuet Lifestyle Accessories Boutique, and a foursome of golf at the Edgewood Country Club.

“We will be forever grateful for the support from Boulders fans to date,” said Team President Ken Lehner. “We are honored to have hosted a million fans and created millions of memories since our first pitch in 2011. Now it is onward and upward to our next million”

In Rockland’s home opener on June 16, 2011, a total of 6,317 fans became the first through the gates, witnessing their new team’s 3-1 victory over the Brockton Rox. Among the other memorable milestones in franchise history, over 10,000 fans flocked to the park to see former New York Mets star Howard Johnson come out of retirement to play his final two professional games, on September 4 and 5, 2011. Nik Wallenda set a World’s Record in front of 5,321 fans, tightroping the ballpark and dropping the first pitches from 120 feet on June 26, 2016. The two-time Can Am Organization of the year is seeking its fourth straight playoff appearance, to go along with two Regular Season Championships and the League Championship in 2014. Last season, Stephen Cardullo became the first Boulders alum to reach the Major Leagues, making his debut for the Colorado Rockies after spending three seasons in the Red, White and Blue.

The Boulders wrap up a six-game home stand against their nearby rivals, the New Jersey Jackals on Saturday and Sunday, July 15-16. Tickets for all home games are available by calling the box office at (845) 364-0009 or by sliding to Rocklandboulders.com.
