After winning the first game of the series, the Rockland Boulders fell to the Quebec Capitales 7-4.  Justin Topa started for Rockland and gave up four runs in 7 1/3 innings.  Lazaro Blanco was the Quebec starter and went 5 2/3 innings, giving up three runs.  Alex Farina (2-1) took the loss while Trevor Bayless (3-0) was the winning pitcher.

The Boulders got on the board early in the first inning. In his first plate appearance back from injury, Marcus Nidiffer drew a walk with the bases loaded to score Jared McDonald.

Quebec took the lead in the fourth with a three-run home run by Maxx Tissenbaum with Yurisbel Gracial and Jordan Lennerton on base.

However, the Boulders were able to tie the game in the sixth.  Nidiffer led off with a walk and Mike Montville followed with a double.  Aaron Wilson then hit a sac fly to left field to bring in a run.  Daniel Arribas picked up a base hit as the next batter to drive in Montville evening the score at 3-3.

Joe Maloney’s nineteenth homer of the season off of Trevor Bayless in the seventh inning broke the tie in favor of Rockland.  However, Yordan Manduley’s sac fly with the bases loaded in the eighth tied the game again for Quebec.

Quebec’s offense continued to surge as they put up three runs in the ninth. Daniel Rockett hit a three-run home run with Lennerton and Tissenbaum on base off of reliever Alex Farina. The Boulders would be unable to match in the bottom of the inning.  The rubber game of the series will be tomorrow night at 7 p.m with Suffern native Ari Kaufmann on the mound for the Boulders.  Great seats are available by calling (845) 364-0009 or by sliding over to rocklandboulders.com
