The Boulders won a tight game against the New Jersey Jackals by a score of 6-5. Chris Carmain started the game and pitched five innings of five run baseball.  The Rockland bullpen had a strong performance tossing four scoreless innings.  Matt Kostalos (3-1) earned the win while New Jersey’s reliever Jose Jose (0-2) was on the losing side.

New Jersey got on the board first starting in the second inning.  With runners on the corners, Yariel Vargas hit a sac fly to center field to score Taylor Brennan.  The Jackals earned another run after Conrad Gregor’s RBI groundout scored Johnny Bladel in the third.

Mikael Mogues led off the bottom of the inning for the Boulders with a walk.  Aaron Wilson’s double two batters later drove in Rockland’s first run of the game.  Wilson himself would score on a sac fly by Dylan Tice to even the score.

The Jackals took the lead again in the fifth inning on a wild pitch that allowed Rylan Sandoval to come home.  Their lead grew the following inning thanks to an RBI single by Richard Stock to drive in Brian Burgamy who led off with a double.  Bladel was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the same inning to give New Jersey a 5-2 lead.

Daniel Arribas cut into the deficit for the Boulders with a triple scoring Marcus Nidiffer and Mike Montville in the sixth.  The big blow came in the seventh off the bat of Cody Regis for a two-run, go-ahead homer with Wilson on base, giving Rockland their first lead of the game.

Jon Velasquez came on in the ninth to record the save. The Boulders are now 38-18 and will travel to Quebec to play the Capitales on Tuesday.
