The Boulders entered Saturday tied for the Can-Am League lead at 39-21 with the Quebec Capitales. They now trail by one game after losing tonight’s contest to the Aigles.

Trois-Rivieres got to Rockland starter Chris Carmain early with runs in the first and second. Daniel Mateo picked up where he left off last night on another solo bomb into the Short Porch. Kyle Lafrenz made it 2-0 on a single that scored Brenden Webb.

Carmain settled in and produced consecutive one, two, three innings prior to allowing a third run in the fifth. Webb scored again on a David Glaude sacrifice fly to deep left. The bats would remain silent on both sides until the eighth.

Aigles ace Matthew Rusch was wheeling and dealing before Daniel Arribas went yard to make it 3-1. A walk to Aaron Wilson would end Rusch’s night as he finished with seven innings pitched, four hits, one run, eight strikeouts and one walk.

Carmain on the other hand took the mound in the ninth and recorded two outs before Alex Ayala went opposite field to give Trois-Rivieres more insurance. He would be Carmain’s last batter as he concluded with 8.2 innings, seven hits, four runs (three earned) and six strikeouts.

Aigles closer Kyle Hansen punched out Joe Maloney and retired Marcus Nidiffer and Jared McDonald in the bottom half to get his team the 4-1 victory. The save is Hansen’s second of the season.

Rockland will gear up for tomorrow’s crucial rubber game at Palisades Credit Union Park. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
